Did you hear? There is a catch of a day with a difference at Halyard’s Hotel & Spa every Saturday! After everything was shut down during Covid 19, the famous Halyards Hotel and Spa Seafood Buffet is back every Saturday, so prepare for a wave of fabulous flavours in this stunning five-course meal.
Halyards Hotel & Spa is situated on the waterfront of the Royal Alfred Marina in Port Alfred, a few kilometres away from Makhanda. The hotel is a popular venue for small and large conferences and events and even more popular for its seafood spread that I and my colleagues had the opportunity to try out!
From entering the door, we were greeted with a smile from the friendly staff who welcomed us with drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Champagne, darling! The waiting area was well prepared; you could sit and enjoy your drink while appreciating the breath-taking view. The dinner area had a lovely, classy atmosphere, and our table was set beautifully. We felt so special.
The five-course meal had everything one could desire, from the delicious soup to the delightful variety of desserts. For those who do not have a sweet tooth, there was also a magnificent selection of cheeses and biscuits. There was a variety of seafood, salads, and desserts, and there was a roast for those who prefer meat. Everything was tasty and scrumptious, and everyone seemed content, both young and old.
If you are a foodie, Halyards Hotel & Spa is where you should be on Saturdays. Bring your family and friends along and enjoy a meal prepared by Chef Mteza Qinela. Costs are R220 per person; pensioners only pay R200 per person, and children under 12 years old pay R110 per child.
