A Wildly Romantic Escape: A Day at African Safari Lodge
Friday, 21st February 2025
𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐢 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬– We rolled up, and boom, the wildlife came to us. From buffalo to kudu, waterbuck, nyala, and impala, it was like an all-you-can-see safari buffet. Burchell’s zebra made a cameo that definitely deserves a place in our Instagram story highlights. The other animals stepped up, and we were living our best safari life.
Lunch with a View – After our wild morning, we sat down for some delicious lunch—thank you, Chef Gift, for the tasty bites. We chowed down while the savannah stretched out below us like a nature documentary backdrop. And of course, we kept the drinks flowing. Because why not? Bae and I were living our best lives, and our timeline was buzzing.
Cruisin' Through – After stuffing our faces, we hopped on a boat for a river cruise. Relaxing on the water with the breeze in our hair? Yes, please. It was so peaceful that even my camera was like, “Let’s just chill for a minute.”
Sunset Safari Vibes – Golden hour hit, and the bush went from “okay” to magical in about two seconds. The animals were all glowing in that perfect, golden light, and I was lowkey convinced we were on the set of a Disney movie.
I have to say, the best part? The atmosphere at the lodge. The only sounds we heard were birds singing in the background. It was like nature’s own playlist, and it was perfect. The staff, led by manager Dean Meintjes, made everything feel super chill.
Oh, and here’s a pro tip: if you’re planning a day trip, pack light, wear comfy shoes, and bring a camera with a good zoom. You’ll thank me later when you’re trying to get that perfect impala shot.
And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I took a look at the suites. Luxury doesn’t even begin to cover it. The rooms are designed to make you feel like you’re sleeping in a five-star safari paradise. Spacious patios with braai facilities, the perfect place to sip wine and soak in those river and valley views. If relaxation was a room, it’d be this one.
Now, I’m already planning my return trip. Dean gave me the inside scoop on some awesome activities for next time:
Canoeing/Kayak Rental (perfect for feeling like a nature explorer)
Guided Walk/Hike (get your nature geek on)
Guided Animal Track Find Walk (learn how to be the next Crocodile Dundee)
Guided Game Drive (wildlife watching—round two!)
Boat Trips/River Cruise (yep, that was so worth it)
Guided Bass Fishing Trips (get ready for some quality fishing time)
African Safari Lodge is the kind of place you go to fall in love with nature—and each other. If you're looking for an escape that’s equal parts romantic, adventurous, and downright fun, this is it.
