Exploring the history of Makana

The remarkable Alan Weyer took time out of his busy calendar to share some of the incredible history of the Eastern Cape, specifically Makana/Bathurst/old Transkei. We were astonished to learn that the nine Frontier Wars (a hundred years of almost continuous fighting with just short times of peace in between) were over before the Zulu wars even started.
The clicks in the Xhosa language clearly connects them with the Khoisan rather than with the Nguni people. We were captivated by such a pleasant and easily digestible amount of knowledge and were surprised to discover we had been listening for more than two hours – it seemed like only half an hour or so.
