Mansfield - Lovely Views, Glorious Trees & Perfect for Traditional Family Get Togethers

"I had the pleasure of spending some time out at Mansfield Game Reserve. It is only an hour from Makhanda though the rains did make the last part of the journey a little interesting as there was some mud on the dirt road. I found this area so peaceful and the game is very tame. The giraffes posed like two young ladies taking for selfies, which made me smile. It was a great way to start a breakaway and things just got better from there.
At the Main Lodge, River Hotels Director, Justin Bester and Mansfield Game Reserve General Manager, Werner Erasmus took myself and several other guests on a tour through the Lodge to show off the upgrades that have now been completed. It is beautifully appointed, with lovely views and glorious trees. Manager, Werner Erasmus was informative and identified the magnificent Cape Ash growing in the side garden of the Lodge. For all his height (6’5”) he is not at all intimidating, and I enjoyed his gentle pride in the establishment. I remember thinking it would be a great venue for a team building or a planning/brainstorming break away. The large dining table made me think of a traditional family get together. My family from Wales are planning a visit next year and it would be fun to spend some time here with all the cousins getting to know each other."
