A select few guests received exclusive golden tickets, similar to the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, inviting them to 112 High Street to celebrate the launch of Makhanda’s newest event concept.

Munch n Mingle, an event facility in Makhanda and the neighbouring areas, has been developed to hold a range of events. Its primary purpose is to provide a platform for business owners to monetize their endeavours through MICE [meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibits] sustainable revenue production, hence promoting Makhanda as a MICE destination and supporting the local economy.

Attendees from all businesses were able to network, have excellent cocktails and snacks, and even participate in a cocktail demonstration and lesson that wowed the audience. They appreciated the initiative highly and called it a first. “I am extremely enthusiastic about this new endeavour,” EC Fresh’s Mitch de Kock exclaimed. He also mentioned that they may use the venue for tutorials and other activities to advertise their brand and products.

Chandra Otto, another professional, was all praise for the new facility. “This is really great; we are all interested in new concepts to help businesses.”

“It’s a nice change from the student vibe; it’s nice to have a place where all professionals can gather,” said Carmen Grant, an educator. She also said that the function venue had a great space and that she would suggest it for events such as year-end celebrations.

The space appealed to Mathias Chirombo of Digs-to-Digs Removal. “One of the things we are lacking in the town, is a centrally located space like this, so it will be valuable. We felt free to socialize tonight. I love the wall art, the lighting was excellent, and there is plenty of parking. It will be a great place to meet clients,” he said.

Duncan Yates, manager of Munch n Mingle, said that the location was great for collaborations and as an event venue that can generate activity even when the National Arts Festival is not taking place.

He envisioned a range of uses for the space, including business mixers and speed dating.

Does this seem like something you’d like to look into?
