Pennypinchers Host Home and Building Expo
Thursday, 5th February 2015
THERE’S a buzz on the floor of the Grahamstown branch of the Pennypinchers hardware store as James Sholto-Douglas and his team prepare in earnest for the “Pennypinchers Home & Building Expo” next week.
Sholto-Douglas announced this week that no less than 30 suppliers and manufacturers would be represented at the expo, and they will cater for the building contractor, do-it-yourself enthusiast and building owners, as well as the home owner, landscaper and gardener.
“Working in collaboration with our numerous suppliers, we will have an amazing array of products on show, both for the contractor and for the home owner,” Sholto-Douglas said enthusiastically. He added that two local estate agency firms will also have stands.
The one-day expo will be held in a large marquee erected on the City Lords sports field at Kingswood College in Grahamstown, from 11am to 6pm on Thursday, February 12.
The 30 stands will cover a wide range of building, maintenance and decorating materials ideal for the building contractor and home owner,” said Sholto-Douglas, adding that he hoped to make the expo an annual event.
The stands will exhibit everything of interest to the home owner and contractor - an extensive range of building materials, roofing, door and window mouldings, taps and sanitaryware, poles and fencing, security and game fencing, gas and wood braais, fireplaces, water tanks, locks and handles, as well as solutions for waterproofing and structural problems.
“In fact,” said Sholto-Douglas with a smile, “there will be everything to build, beautify and maintain your home or business, all under one marquee roof. It promises to be an informative day, and I’m positive everyone who attends will find something of interest.
For the children who tag along with their parents, there will be a jumping castle, while boerewors rolls, hamburgers and refreshments will be on sale.
Entrance to the expo will be from Ayliff Street as well as the Wyvern Club car park, and those attending will be asked to make a donation to Grahamstown Hospice as entry fee.
Among the exhibitors who have confirmed their participation at the expo are: AfriSam all-purpose cement; Makana Brick; Rite Design Cabinets; JoJo Tanks; Matus; Plascon paints; Bermuda lawns & landscaping; Sunnyside Garden Centre; Duram paints; MacSteel; Ryan Ferguson hand-crafted kitchens and furniture; Cobra sanitaryware; Kwikot; Cape Wire; Le Farge; Unitraco; and IDM Cement.
In addition, Pam Golding Properties and RE/MAX Frontier Properties have each booked a stand and staff will be on hand to offer advice regarding local properties.
