#thisismymakana Instagram Photographic Exhibition
Thursday, 7th November 2013
Makana Tourism's offices were filled to capacity on Wednesday evening as an appreciative crowd viewed the photographs on display while sampling delicious snacks and wine.
This is the first collaboration between IgersGrahamstown and Makana Tourism who decided to celebrate Heritage Month (in September 2013) with a series of themed photographs. Over a 4 week period, a different theme each week tested the participants' imagination. The themes were: Postcard Perfect, Small Town Stories, Looking Up/Looking Down, and Out and About.
43 photographs taken by 15 people on their smart phones make up the first #thisismymakana Instagram Challenge.
The winning photograph came from Kosie de Klerk - "Man walking down Mountain Drive". 1st Runner up - Renette Kleinhans for "Horses" and 2nd Runner up - Neels Strijdom "Gate at Sunset".
Mr Tim Dold from PG Glass has already kindly offered to sponsor a prize of R1000 for next year's Challenge. The exhibition will be on display until 21 November 2013 and all works are available for sale at R120 each as is (larger photos may be printed to order and will cost more depending on the size).
Makana Tourism would like to thank the following people:
Terry - Bucklands Private Game Reserve (main prize); Madaleine - Hill Street Manor/GED (cash prize); Virginia – Fusion: for the superb cheeses; Jacques – Jacques' Artisan bread for the fresh bread; Kwandwe Private Game Reserve - wine; Graham Bottle Store - wine; Buddy’s Liquors - wine; Peppergrove Pick n Pay – juice and wine; and last but not least Cathy and Lindsay from Cathy Braans PR, Instagramers Grahamstown, Claire Brear, and Deon from Superior Signs for your help and hard work in realising this exhibition.
